About Blooming Creatives

"I really want to thank you, Mixie, for all the work you did on the PowerPoint presentation we used to help honor Dick Bolles for his many years of service to job seekers all over the world. He is such a unique person and a real treasure to those who have utilized What Color Is Your Parachute and his other books.

I know that he is important to you and that you especially value all of the creativity he uses to write and present his ideas. Your way of showing the different aspects of his creativity was especially helpful.

You obviously put a lot of time and care into your presentation."

Passions...

Mixie Kingman Eddy MA, the Founder of Blooming Creatives, is a Personal Historian and Creativity Coach, as well as a hobby musician, who specializes in helping later-bloomers re-awaken their passion for creative work. She also loves to co-design with her clients the creation of a "living" archive of their personal history and unique work, and/or the creativity of a special, gifted individual in one's family (deceased or still living)…….so that (like an ongoing blooming perennial flower) this highly creative person's legacy will be preserved and live on for years to come!

If you are a bright, budding artist, writer, musician, architect, actor, entertainment executive, inventor, artistic craftsperson, landscape or interior designer, graphic artist, chef, website designer, gardener, quilt maker, or a creative type of person who seeks more creative type of work, and/or wants to preserve your creative pursuits, then you are encouraged to contact Blooming Creatives.

Empathizing with overcoming feelings of discouragement about getting a late start in awareness of her own creative strengths, Mixie is motivated to inspire her fellow “later-bloomers” that it’s never too late to find rewarding work that aligns with their creative talents. For example, she discovered her own dream of playing music (on a serious level) around age 40 and launched her creativity career coaching and personal history/archiving business after age 50, following many years working (as a counselor and instructor) in Singapore, Australia, and Puerto Rico at various international schools, as well as high schools in Vermont and New Mexico, plus Bellevue Community College (teaching Japanese business students) in Washington State.

Background...

Growing up amidst an exceptionally gifted artistic/scientific family (her father was a brilliant artist, photographer, and art museum director, her mother was an outstanding anthropologist, her sister is a talented++ graphic designer, her husband is an inspiring educator, and her son is the innovative founder of a high tech company), Mixie has always thrived living and collaborating with synergistic teams of highly imaginative people, who think “out of the box” on creative projects. In her work with clients, Mixie is passionate about honoring one’s unique creativity and personal history, and finds great joy in the archiving process (especially through videos), to design a living tribute, since it brings out both her clients' legacies and her own creativity as well.

Having discovered her own passion for meaningfully connecting with others to brainstorm and improvise new ideas and options, she’s continuing to evolve her own professional development. With myriad tools and resources, Mixie is adept at eliciting clarity and untapped potential in her clients to spark their creativity and help them discover their personal brand. Her active pursuit of learning and identifying what makes diverse people “tick,” serves her clients well. She has earned a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology and certifications as a Career Management Coach, Personal Brand Strategist, Career Development Facilitator, Dependable Strengths Facilitator, and Technical Writer/Document Designer. Mixie is also continuing her training in specialized creativity, retirement, spiritual and life purpose competencies for coaching creative entrepreneurs and retirees.

Additional Creative Interests...

In addition to her positive, inspiring, encouraging and intuitive coaching skills, Mixie’s clients also benefit from her strong organizational and technical abilities. She helps generate realistic, practical, informed, and results-oriented plans and uses the Web effectively in career development and marketing. Mixie knows how to help manifest her clients’ creative visions online with a business site, career portfolio, PowerPoint presentation, blog or special project. In fact, Mixie is experienced in web design and recently spearheaded a website re-design project for the Puget Sound Career Development Association in Seattle, WA and served as Webmaster on the Board of Directors for the past 7 years. Moreover, Mixie is currently gaining additional experience in designing personal histories on websites and videos to archive and preserve one's creative pursuits.

Mixie also feels immensely passionate about creative arts programs being continued in today's middle and secondary schools, since she has seen first hand the huge positive effects that these programs have on one's self esteem and ability to learn throughout his/her life. She is dismayed that many music, art, and theater programs are being eliminated. Thus she wants to do something to enhance the possibilities of more arts programs being offered to our younger generations in today's school systems around the country.

Always striving to “walk her talk” in terms of a well-balanced and healthful lifestyle full of creativity, Mixie loves playing traditional Celtic and contra dance music with various groups of musicians, designing layouts for collages, videos, and websites, planning projects, taking photos, traveling overseas, walking with her special pooch,” X-C skiing, bicycling, meditating, writing, and picnicking in gorgeous parks with her family and close friends throughout the Pacific Northwest, California, and New Mexico (rain or shine)! Whenever she cultivates her creative expression amidst nature's wonders, her life and her work are greatly enhanced.
